Annfield has an enviable location, being situated just 10 minutes walk downhill (but 20 back!!) from Oban town centre, with three routes down, via 144 steps down Jacobs Ladder, which originates in Ardconnel Terrace just below the apartment, via Ardconnel Hill which comes out in Argyll Square area near Tesco, or down Ardconnel road to Craigard which leads down to the northern end of the town. It is also just a stones throw from Oban's most famous landmark, McCaig's Tower which was modelled on the Coliseum in Rome. The Tower was built in the late 1800's by John Stuart McCaig, Oban essayist and banker as a monument to his family and to assist the unemployed stonemasons of the town over the quiet winter months, and now has an attractive garden and impressive viewing platform which is a must see attraction for most visitors to the town, with its unrivalled seascape views over the Bay and beyond.
There is a sports centre with swimming pool, 'Atlantis Leisure' just a few minutes walk away with many facilities to keep both young and old active and occupied in all weathers.
Oban Phoenix cinema closed in 2010, but a community initiative has been successful in purchasing the premises, which are being refurbished with a view to opening soon as a state of the art facility for both locals and guests in Oban.
